Metropolis Maintenance Services Ltd (The Company) is committed to being a highly successful building and Maintenance company. As part of its commitment to the environment it has developed this policy, which has been endorsed by the Company Directors and will be communicated to all employees and made available to the public. It forms the basis for setting environmental objectives that will continually improve the manner in which it operates its business.
Objectives
- To identify and minimise the risks to the environment from the Company’s activities.
- Comply with current environmental legislation and where appropriate act in anticipation of future requirements.
- Set targets and implement suitable arrangements to seek continuous improvement of environmental issues within the business.
Policy
To achieve these objectives the Company will:
- adopt as principles the prevention of pollution, reduction of waste and the efficient use of materials and energy
- where possible, use sustainable, reusable or recyclable products. Where necessary, it will ensure that all wastes, particularly hazardous or contaminated wastes are tested, transported and disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner, in accordance with statutory duty of care requirements
- minimise noise levels, traffic nuisance, emission of pollutants and disturbance to the public and local ecosystems, wildlife habitats and preservation of heritage
- review its activities and identify issues which could have a significant impact on the environment
- minimise the risks of environmental accidents through the formulation and adoption of appropriate risk management procedures and, in conjunction with appropriate authorities, we will ensure an emergency response capability to deal with accidental pollution
- encourage our supply-chain to comply with this policy
- provide the necessary awareness and training to enable staff at all levels to understand and contribute to the implementation of this policy
